HaBAS is aware that a great deal of genuine talent and achievement is left unrewarded and unregarded by Traditional Academic practices. HaBAS’s mission is to correct that situation.
Our aim in creating HaBAS is not to impose limits but to set standards and recognize ability. The philosophical underpinning of HaBAS, which guides all decisions by Boards of Study, is the principle that a degree can only be granted to candidates who have demonstrated an ability or expertise “significantly above the average”.
To satisfy HaBAS licensing requirements all partner schools agree to the following terms and conditions:
• State clearly their accreditation status.
• HaBAS recommends every school to subscribe to one or more online academic
database for free student use. (Non-Compulsory).
• Post their Official HaBAS Licence.
• Keep accurate and accessible student records.
• Continually ensure and update confidentiality and data protection protocols.
• Outline any Special Education Needs policy and capabilities.
• Have a Complaints procedure.
• Post their complete range of subjects, faculty and departments.
• Display and implement an anti-plagiarism policy.
• State their admission criteria.
• Reject “instant degrees" and those awarded on career C.V.
(Resume), alone. They are at best dubious.
• Seek as a priority active feedback from both graduates and their employers
to monitor standards and success. The process in accordance with “triangulated”
research theory (as formulated by Kurt Lewin et al) will be continuous.
• Give full tutor contact details.
• Detail minimum tutorial or supervisory hours per student and per course
taught or thesis supervised. Tutor supervision and access information must be
given to those engaged in research, together with the type of support on offer
(e-mail, face-to-face etc), before either enrolment or fee payment.
